In our series #RelationshipGoals, we looked at what the Bible says about marriage. In this message, we start at the foundation. If we want a healthy marriage, then we need to start with a relationship Jesus.

GENESIS 2:18-24 -

18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”

19 So the Lord God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one.

20 He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just right for him.

21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening.

22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.

23 “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’”

24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.

"In a Christ-Centered marriage, Jesus is your ONE
and your spouse is your TWO." 

MATTHEW 22:36-37 -

36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.”

"We can’t expect to build a Christ-Centered life in the future on
the foundation of a Self-Centered life in the present."

JAMES 5:16 -

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

HOW TO PRAY WITH YOUR SPOUSE

• Keep it short.
• Keep it consistent. 
• When you miss a day, don’t miss two. 

SAMPLE PRAYER

“Dear God, give us wisdom and clear direction in all we do. Help us to show Your love to each other and to those in our lives. Bless our home and help us to stay in the center of Your will. In Jesus name, Amen.”
